# General settings

Rename your project, see which repository and branch it follows, and delete the project.

**Settings → General** holds the basics of a project.

## Project name

The name is shown in the dashboard and is the title of your site in the header and in search results, unless you set a site title in [Search and sharing](/settings/search). It can be up to 60 characters. Change it and choose **Save**.

## Repository

This section is read-only.

- **Repository**: the GitHub repository the docs are written from, linked to GitHub.
- **Tracked branch**: always the repository's default branch.
- **Connection**: **GitHub App** if the repository is read through the Docup app, or **Public link** if it was added by link. A public link project does not update on push. See [Connecting GitHub](/guides/connect-github).

## Docs

**Regenerate all pages** is marked as coming soon. It will plan the pages again and rewrite them, with suggestions instead of overwrites for pages you edited.

## README badge

You can copy the Markdown snippet to paste in your repository's README. This displays a badge linking back to your docs, showing they are written with Docup.

```markdown
[![docs: Docup](https://docup.dev/badges/docs-by-docup.svg)](https://docup.dev)
```

## Delete the project

The **Danger zone** contains options to take your site offline or remove it completely.

- **Unpublish the site**: Takes the docs offline. Your pages and drafts stay, and you can publish again. This option is only visible when the site is currently published.
- **Delete project**: Removes the docs site, every page including your edits, and every run. Your GitHub repository is not touched.

You confirm a deletion by typing the full repository name (such as `owner/repository`), and the action cannot be undone. If you only want to take the site down, use **Unpublish site** or see [Publishing your site](/guides/publishing) for more details.
