# The dashboard

A tour of the project dashboard: Overview, Pages, Analytics, Runs, Ask AI and Settings.

Each project has its own dashboard. A rail of sections sits on the left, the section's list in a panel next to it, and the page itself on the right. You can drag the edge of the panel to resize the sidebar. The top bar always carries **Preview** and **Publish**.

## The top bar

- A trail shows the project, the section and the item you are looking at.
- **Preview** opens your draft site in a new tab.
- **Publish docs** (or **Publish changes**) opens the publish summary. When your site is live and has no unpublished changes, this is replaced by an **Up to date** indicator.
- While you edit a page, the save status appears here.

## Inbox

The Inbox is the first screen of a project. It shows what currently needs your attention, and how the site stands.

At the top, a card shows the site: whether it is **Live** or a **Draft**, when it was last published, its address, and the connected repository.

### Needs attention
If anything is currently running or needs action, it appears in the Inbox list:
- **Active run**: A pipeline run that is currently queued or running, showing its current step.
- **Writing**: Pages that Docup is currently writing again.
- **Failed pages**: Pages that failed to generate.
- **Suggestions**: Pages with review suggestions to check.
- **Removed sources**: Pages whose source files were removed from your repository.
- **Unpublished changes**: A prompt to publish when you have unpublished page additions, edits, or reorderings.

If nothing needs your attention, the Inbox says "Nothing needs you right now."

### Setup
A list of setup tasks stays here until they are done:

| Step | Done when |
| --- | --- |
| Fill out short pages | No written page has fewer than 150 words. |
| Let search engines in / Describe the site for search results | Search engines are allowed and a description is set. |
| Add your logo and favicon | Both a logo and a favicon are uploaded. |

## Pages

The list of pages, as a sidebar with folders. Select a page to edit it, drag to reorder, use the search box to filter and the `+` buttons to add pages. See [The page editor](/guides/editor) and [Organize pages and folders](/guides/organize-pages).

## Runs

Every run of the writing pipeline, with its status and details. It lists every run of the project in a history table, newest first, showing:
- **Update**: The commit title, run kind (such as a page retry), or first run.
- **Changes**: A short description of what was changed or the error if the run failed.
- **Status**: The status of the run.
- **Took**: How long the run took to complete.
- **Time**: When the run completed.

See [Runs](/guides/runs).

## Analytics

Views, visitors, referrers, countries, devices, 404s and crawlers. See [Analytics](/guides/analytics).

## Ask AI

The switch for the reader chat, and the list of pages Ask AI answers from, grouped as answering, waiting for publish and not published. See [Ask AI](/guides/ask-ai).

## Settings

Five pages: [General settings](/settings/general), [Site and domain](/settings/domain), [Appearance](/settings/appearance), [Search and sharing](/settings/search) and [AI guidance](/settings/guidance).

## Switching projects

The project switcher at the top of the sidebar lists the projects in your workspace and moves between them. Each project has its own repository, address, pages and settings. Inside the switcher, a colored status dot indicates whether each project is **Generating**, **Draft**, **Live**, or if the last sync **Failed**.

## Workspaces

Signing up creates a personal workspace with you as its owner. Projects belong to the workspace, not to you directly. Everything you see in the dashboard belongs to the workspace you are signed in to.
